So beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey there! I had an exciting morning with one of our local MOPS groups ( Mothers of Preschoolers)! They get together for breakfast, fellowship, a craft and a speaker. I got to talk to them today about "How to take great pictures of your kids!" It was totally awesome!
Congrats to Rachel and Janice for winning the "Complimentary Session" drawing!!
They are such a great group of ladies! Since my baby just turned "17", it's been awhile since I've had a preschooler running around the house. But I still get to run and play with my client's kids and I LOVE IT!
I thought I'd take a minute and go over just a few of the highlights I shared with them this morning. Some of the moms took notes and they asked GREAT questions, but it was alot of information in a short amount of time. I also tend to talk "a little" fast... :) We all want great pictures of our kids so I thought I'd put a few things down so the mom's could refer back to it. Ok, here we go!
~ Aperture: the size of the opening of your lens while you are taking your picture. Controls your depth of field.
Tip: Small number= the less things in your picture will be in focus
Large number= the more things in your picture will be in focus
~Shutter Speed: the time the shutter is open while you are taking your picture. Stops motion
Tip: set @ 1/60 or higher for hand holding your camera
set @ 1/250 or higher for action
~ISO: camera sensors sensitivity to light
Tip: The brighter the light, the lower the ISO
Creative & Problem Solving Tips:
~Change your perspective! Get down on their level, or get up high!
~Flip your camera for a vertical shot instead of horizontal.
~Watch your backgrounds!
~Give little ones something to hold
~Take photos while their attention is on something else, playing in
the sand, or with a favorite toy.
~Catch their silly faces
~Put them in the shade to avoid "eye squint" or have them close
them close their eyes for a moment, have them count to 3 then
open.
~Inside? Move them to a window for beautiful light!
And finally, and the most important thing to remember is "Get in the photo with your child!!" In 10 years they will want to see you & them together!
HAPPY SNAPPING!!
I thought today I would share some of my favorite family photos and some random trivia about me. I'd love to hear from you, so give me some random tidbits about yourself!! Here goes:
1. I love Jesus
2. I LOVE COFFEE
3. I like to talk (sometimes really fast)
4. I'm not good at cutting peoples hair
5. I sometimes like to sing in public to embarrass my kids
6 . I love hanging out with my family
7. I like to watch my favorite movies over and over
8. I have lived in 5 different states and some more than once
(Indiana and Iowa)
9. I once sat on Johnny Cash's limo ( I was 1 & my mom sat me there)

11. But, my favorite group is "Jars of Clay"
12. I love to sing in the car, but I'm not sure my passengers love my singing?
13. I love viewing the world from behind my camera!!
14. I was never more impressed with my sister's navigational skills than when she found
our way back to our hotel in Rome without speaking a word of Italian
15. I think I have the best husband in the world!
16. I LOVE COFFEE, did I mention?
17. My name in the bible is Dorcas which means graceful, which is really odd because I
I am not very graceful (just ask anyone, I even spilled coffee on my husband this
morning)
18. I often forget where I have put things

which so far I have managed to avoid)
21. I really admire people who have a good sense of humor, I think my boys are some of
the funniest people I know
22. I don't have good luck with wild animals. I once slightly cooked a opossum in my grill
(I had a bad habit of not lifting the lid before I started the grill, the unfortunate animal
had the misfortune of sleeping in my grill. He did live, but I don't think he ever slept in
my grill again.)
23. My favorite places to visit are coffee shops with good friends
24. I think everybody should love coffee and Jane Austen
25. My favorite word is cool! My second favorite word is "EGGCELLENT" (I like it spelled
that way too!)

I love this photo of my husband! It was just a snapshot taken on the beach, but I just love it!

My oldest son :) he loves rock-climbing, hiking, snow-boarding: he's always up for an adventure!

My middle son ( I thought for awhile he might follow in his mom's footsteps!) He's our in-house movie expert!

my youngest, he's one of the most caring people I know! One of my favorite things to do is listen to him play his guitar!
I agree with the love coffee comments, but I would suggest maybe making one ESPRESSO!
Tab, I love the pics of the boys when they were young! That's how I remember them. :-D We had so much fun watching Yo Kidz & playing Power Rangers, etc... I loved the random facts about you, too!! I remember you talking really fast! Very talented lady, you are! Agree with you on the Jane Austen & coffee & coffee & did I happen to mention coffee. You need to visit us soon! There is a new coffee shop in Kalona with excellent brew! :-D Hint, hint!
